The Founder story: How One Photo Booth Visit Sparked an Idea
Sometimes, the smallest moments stay with us the longest.
You don't realize they're important while they're happening. It's only later that you look back and understand why they mattered.
For me, that moment happened last November.
I was at a shopping mall with one of my closest friends. We were just walking around, talking, and enjoying the day. There wasn't any special occasion. It was one of those simple days that you don't think twice about.
As we walked past a photo booth, we stopped for a second.
Without planning it, we looked at each other and said, "Let's do it."
We stepped inside the tiny booth, waited for the countdown, laughed through every pose, and a few minutes later walked out holding a printed photo strip.
Just three photos. One small strip of paper.
At that time, it felt like nothing more than a fun memory.
I had no idea that little photo strip would completely change the way I thought about making memories.
A Memory That Stayed With Me
A few days later, I came back home.
My friend lived in another city, so life slowly went back to normal.
We still stayed in touch. We texted. We shared photos. We called each other whenever we had time.
But every now and then, I'd notice that photo strip sitting on my desk.
Every time I looked at it, it brought back that exact moment. The tiny booth. The countdown. The laughter. The excitement of waiting for the photos to print.
It wasn't just about the pictures. It was about sharing that experience together.
That's when I realized something.
We have so many ways to stay connected today. We can video call anyone in seconds. We can send photos instantly. We can share reels, memes, voice notes, and messages all day long.
But there was no way to recreate that simple photo booth experience with someone who wasn't physically next to you.
That thought stayed in my mind for weeks.
The Question That Started Everything
One question kept coming back to me.
Why doesn't an online photo booth exist?
Not another camera app. Not another photo editor. Not another social media filter. A real photo booth.
One that captures the same excitement as stepping into a booth with someone you care about. One where distance doesn't matter.
Imagine sending someone a link, joining the same virtual booth, smiling at the camera together, and ending up with one shared photo strip.
It sounded so simple.
Yet I couldn't find anything that felt like that. I searched for online photo booths and virtual photo booth apps. Some focused on events. Some were built for businesses. Others were just camera filters with different names.
None of them recreated the feeling I was looking for.
That's when I stopped searching. Instead, I started writing ideas down.
From an Idea to the First Prototype
LensBooth didn't start with code. It started with notes.
My notebook slowly filled with rough ideas. Then came sketches. Then wireframes. Then screen designs.
I spent countless evenings thinking about tiny details that most people would never notice.
How should joining a booth feel? How many steps should it take? Where should the countdown appear? How can the experience feel simple enough that anyone can use it without instructions?
The goal wasn't to build another camera website. The goal was to recreate a feeling. I wanted LensBooth to feel as natural as walking into a real photo booth.
No downloads. No complicated setup. No creating an account just to take a picture. Just open a link, join the booth, smile, and create a memory together.
Of course, building it wasn't always easy. Some ideas sounded great but didn't work. Some designs looked completely different once they were built. Some nights ended with more questions than answers.
There were moments when I wondered if anyone else would even want something like this.
But every time I looked at that original photo strip, I remembered why I had started. It reminded me that the experience mattered more than the technology behind it.
The Origin of Shared Booth
As LensBooth slowly came together, one feature stood out more than everything else.
What if two people in completely different places could create one photo strip together?
That idea became Shared Booth.
Instead of taking separate photos and combining them later, two people could join the same online photo booth and capture memories together in real time.
That changed everything.
Suddenly, LensBooth wasn't just another browser-based camera. It became a place where distance didn't have to stop people from making memories.
Long-distance couples could celebrate anniversaries together. Friends studying in different cities could still laugh inside the same booth. Siblings living abroad could create photo strips with their families back home. Even people who had never met in person could share a moment together.
That was the experience I had imagined from the beginning.
More Than an Online Photo Booth
Today, LensBooth is much more than a website where you take pictures. It's a place where everyday moments become keepsakes.
A birthday celebration. A late-night catch-up. A graduation. A festival. A random Tuesday conversation.
Sometimes the best memories aren't carefully planned. They're the spontaneous ones. The ones that happen because someone simply says,
"Let's take a photo."
Those are the moments I wanted LensBooth to preserve. Not perfect pictures. Real ones. The ones with laughter, funny faces, and memories you'll smile at years later.
Building LensBooth Is Still a Journey
Creating LensBooth has taught me something I didn't expect.
People don't just want better technology. They want experiences that feel personal.
Every new feature I build starts with the same question:
Will this help people create better memories together?
If the answer is no, it probably doesn't belong in LensBooth.
There are still so many ideas I want to build. New photo strip designs. More creative booth experiences. Features that make sharing memories even more fun.
LensBooth is still growing, and every update is guided by the same idea that started everything.
Distance shouldn't stop people from creating memories together.
